Groupama Asset Management’s Macroeconomic Research team aims to assist all fund management teams by providing them with a global and consistent macroeconomic scenario.
The Macroeconomic Research team at Groupama Asset Management ensures monitoring of the global economic climate and designs the qualitative and quantitative macroeconomic scenario that will be integrated into the investment policy.
It anticipates the consequences of the scenario for each investment team: Money Market, Directional Fixed Income, Global Fixed Income, Fixed Income Credit, Fixed Income Inflation, Equity (Europe and global), Global Balanced Management, Multimanagement.
In its analysis, Groupama AM has benefited for a number of years from the acknowledged expertise of Michel Aglietta, professor at the University of Paris-Ouest and economic advisor to Groupama Asset Management.
For critical problems in the understanding and assessment of markets, the economic research department is pursuing basic analysis backed by econometrics. Supported by the substantive work of its research teams and the spirit of independence that characterises it, Groupama AM created the “Expertise” series of works in 2003. Seven issues have been published since the launch of this series, which contributed to the recognition of the quality of Groupama AM’s basic research. The eighth issue, which covers the sovereign debt crisis in the eurozone, is in the process of preparation.
Other publications comment on market prospects or explain their orientation in certain sectors in collaboration with asset management administration, such as the Management & Strategy Letter.
Groupama Asset Management encourages the dissemination of ideas. With its research team, it both organises and participates in conferences. As a member of the Board of the “Centre d’Etudes Prospectives et d’Informations Internationales” – CEPII (French research centre in international economics) [ www.cepii.fr], Groupama Asset Management organises, along with the latter as well as the International Center for Research and Studies in Management – CIREM, conferences on different themes linked to current market issues and developments. Each year, Groupama AM seminars bring together various participants, on a given subject, to further prepare for the new economic, social and financial challenges.
The Macroeconomic Research team also participates in press conferences led by the Chief Investment Officer and on an ad hoc basis.
