  • AIMR (Association for Investment Management and Research) Standards

    The AIMR is an international organisation of asset management professionals. The AIMR disseminates knowledge at the same time as promoting higher standards, ethics and professionalism across the asset management industry in relation to the presentation of performances.

  • Alpha

  • Alternative management

    A type of asset management of which the principal aim is to seek absolute performance, i.e. performance that is not correlated to any movements, whether upwards or downwards, in traditional financial assets (stock market, money market or bond indices).
    In relation to other types of asset management, alternative management may, by means of asset management techniques that make use of a very wide range of financial instruments, make investment or disinvestment decisions or arbitrages based on the analysis of many economic, financial or technical parameters such as, for example, the volatility of a market, its liquidity, its trends, relative spread with another market parameter, the credit rating of issuers of securities or the probability of an event.
