Groupama Asset Management is reinforcing its Equity and Convertibles Investments department with the arrival of Stéphane Fraenkel as Associate Head of Equity and Convertibles Investments

Our new fund manager Stéphane Fraenkel fully matches the DNA and outlook of Groupama AM. His priority mission will be to assume the management of the “Avenir Euro”, “Avenir Europe” and “Avenir Small Caps” funds.

Stéphane Fraenkel has more than 30 years of experience, including 20 years in equity investment and 13 in tech, in France and Japan.

He has already managed several successful strategies, such as those of the multiple award-winning small and mid caps stock-picking “Entrepreneurs” Fund at Flinvest from 2006 to 2015, and the Tocqueville Technology ISR R fund, which last October, was designated one of the best funds eligible for the French Equity Savings Plan (PEA), based on 1-year performance.

His experience in thematic and SRI funds will be an essential aid in sustaining the strong ambitions of Groupama Asset Management in the diversification of its growth strategies (international equity, thematic funds and ESG approach) and increasing the number of franchises in the Equities and Convertibles Investments department.

Stéphane Fraenkel will also be responsible for reinforcing this competence centre and for assisting in the development and recruitment of stock-picking talents, especially for the management of Small and Mid Caps (SMID Caps).

For Mirela Agache Durand, CEO of Groupama Asset Management: “The experience of Stéphane Fraenkel in equity management, and especially in SMID caps, will help us maintain the long-term excellence of our management processes in this asset class, which is a historic area of expertise of our company. He will also have the mission of attracting new talent to accelerate the expansion of our excellence franchises. This recruitment is an exceptional opportunity to pursue the diversification of success strategies at Groupama Asset Management“.

About Stéphane Fraenkel: Stéphane Fraenkel graduated from the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (ENST, now known as Télécom Paris) and is certified by the French Society of Financial Analysts (SFAF). Until this appointment, he held the position of associate director at Tocqueville Finance, a subsidiary of Banque Postale, which he joined in 2017 to create an excellence centre in stock-picking equity management
